My grandfather was around at the butt-end of the British Empire. He would probably go "huh?!??!" if he found out Britian is so below the redline that they're unable to even take care of the vulnerable, the poor and the elderly.

These cuts won't work, though - whatever they save will be spent again. What they need to do is ease back on spending. What are they spending on if it means it's forcing them to take austerity measures like this? The British Geofront?
